My husband went to the er last night and the diagnois is uti. they prescribed him cefdinir as an antibotic. can he take nitrofurantoin instead?

Nitrofurantoin might not be safe and effective. UTIs in males require more intensive treatment than in females and NTF rarely is used. He should continue with the cefdinir as prescribed. Good luck to him.

Without knowing details and cause of it - it he may. But the Cefdinir must have been selected for a reason- best to stay on it
