Asthma: Significant number of people with chronic cough with no good diagnosis end up having asthma after good pft is done. Furthermore, a cold can trigger asthma, by virtue of nerve irritation, sinopulmonary syndrome. The frequent throat clearing seems to point to a chronic allergic rhinitis also. Have good exam and studies done. Good luck and oh, stop smoking, bad for allergy, asthma and your health.

Asthma?: Wheezing and cough needs a good explanation. Cxr could be normal with these symptoms. See primary doc and consider pulmonary function testing with bronhochallenge if initial study looks normal. Don't forget to quit smoking.
