Easy: If you would like to try a different long acting stimulant medication, just tell your physician that you feel.......And would like to try a different one. I am asked to do that frequently and understand why a change might be better. If the doctor is reluctant to change medications ask for the reasons. If those reasons are not adequate ask for referral elsewhere. Easy.

Concerta: Let your doctor know how you are responding to that dose, which is the maximum daily dose.

Relative doses: The dose relationship of Concerta to Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is 2 to 1. this would convert to Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) about 30 mg to start. further adjustment can then be made.

Simple words work : Your concerns about side effects or effectiveness are an important part of regular followup. Many on these meds transition to other meds at some point during treatment.
