NO: Most of the time, crown lengthening, a process of which the surrounding gum and bone will be removed to expose at least 2-3mm of root structure for the crown attached to. Post and core alone only used to transfer the occlusal force during function into the root area. Post and core cannot help with the crown retention. If the remaining root is too short, extraction and implant tx is the best.

Yes, it is possible: only if the fracture is not too far below the gum-line. The tooth can be restored with a procedure called crown lengthening followed by a post and crown. Another much more predictable option is extraction and dental implant. Ask your dentist for more information.
