Two thoughts: Either an infection or a mucocele. It doesn't make sense to take any chances. See a dentist to know for sure. If it is an infection, even though it doesn't hurt now, it will soon enough and usually at the most inopportune time. If it's a mucocele, all the better. When was your last dental check-up?

See a dentist: Any time a lump or swelling occurs, it is normally not a good idea to ignore it and hope it goes away. If it is nothing, you will be relieved and possibly get some conservative treatment for it. Or if it is something more substantial, then it is better that you went rather than waited.

Swelling: Swelling generally indicates an accumulation of fluid which will either continue or drain into the mouth and restart later. Advise dental visit to evaluate and determine cause and to treat if necessary.
