A member asked:

Beer for diabetics, is it okay?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not particularly: Alcohol in any form gives you 4 calories per gram of alcohol (average drink has 13 grams, so 52 calories per drink just from alcohol). Beer, even light beer, has more in the way of carbohydrates as well. Alcohol interacts with medications used to treat diabetes, and also can both elevate and lower blood sugars, depending on how much you drink. It also damages the liver. Talk to your doctor.
