A member asked:

My mum collapsed from low blood sugar, what to do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treat low sugar: Hi. If the person is conscious and can safely take things by mouth, liquid sugar (juice - can even ADD sugar) is the fastest. If unconscious, don't give anything by mouth; call paramedics. All my patients on insulin have glucagon at home, so if they can't safely be treated by mouth, family/friends can give glucagon and not have to call paramedics. Talk with your mom's doctor about hypoglycemia.
