Must rule out cancer: Must rule out squamous cell carcinoma! are you in the sunshine state or like to stay out in the sun? Usually all lesions on the lip should heal within 5 days or at most 1 week. If the lesion stays longer, please consult your dentist/pathologist! its (squamous cell carcinoma) occurrence is rare and probably unlikely, but that is the number one lesion that i must rule out in all my patient.

Two possibilities: Difficult to say without a complete history, but may possibly be an allergic reaction (anything new lately?) or even oral candidiasis (yeast infection). Advise seeing your dentist or physician to diagnose and prescribe needed meds.
