No: The ekg shows heart rhythm, enlargement of atria and ventricles, signs of heart muscle damage but doesn't' give information about systolic or diastolic function unlike an echocardiogram.

Two different tests: An electrocardiogram (ekg, ecg) shows the electrical activity of the heart, its rate, rhythm, and other important information such as the presence of heart blocks, if someone is having a heart attack, etc. An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test of the heart, which shows how the heart relaxes (diastole) and contracts (systole), any abnormalities of the heart valves, etc.
