If you are: Referring to globus hystericus, this is an antiquated diagnosis referring to a psychosomatic disorder characterized by having a constant feeling of a lump in the throat. Globus basically is the symptom without reference to the cause. It is often identified with laryngopharyngeal reflux.

Lump in throat: Globus is the sensation of a lump in the back of the throat. We dont really know what causes it. Globus does not usually interfere with swallowing and isnt usually associated with pain.

Usually not: There is not usually any pain present in the throat. Globus sensation needs to be distinguished from the different and separate symptom known as dysphagia or other pathologies.
