Globus Hystericus ..: As it used to be labeled, is a sensation of a lump in the throat. At one time it was thought to be a psychiatric condition. Now it is believed to be mostly caused by a condition called laryngopharyngeal reflux or silent reflux. The major causes are stress and diet. Exacerbating conditions include obesity, eating close to bedtime and sleeping position. Try zantac (ranitidine) twice a day , avoid caffeine/etoh.
