Globus causes:: Reflux; esophageal motility disorders; infection /inflammation of pharynx; upper aerodigestive malignancy; thyroid diseases; enlarged base of tongue; rare pharyngo-laryngeal tumors; psychological factors & stress, et al. Treatment with high dose ppi for reflux may help; endoscopy & other tests may reveal cause; in absence of physical findings, ssri & counselling may benefit.
