A 31-year-old female asked about a 2-year-old male:
my 2 year old hardly eats. no matter what i offer. he only likes popcorn , black olives, fish crackers and bacon. what can i do? he is small already.

The bottom line...: ...Is that he eats this way because you've allowed it. Talk to your pediatrician about techniques to get him eating a better variety of food. Then once you have those techniques, use them, even if your son cries and is unhappy. As far as being small is concerned...That doesn't matter, provided he's been growing well and is within a normal range. Your pediatrician can discuss that with you too.

A 38-year-old member asked:
My 2 year old is significantly shorter and lighter than her peers. Should I be concerned?
3 doctor answers • 6 doctors weighed in

Dr. Kenneth Cheng answered
Family Medicine 31 years experience
Possibly concerning: When a child is shorter and lighter that his/her peers, this may be normal or it may be a serious condition known as failure to thrive. This depends on several issues including ongoing medical problems, medications, the child's actual age compared with the actual age of the peers, and an evaluation of the child's growth chart from birth to present age. See your family doctor or pediatrician soon.

A 36-year-old member asked:
How can I make the car safe for my 2-year-old?

Dr. Jeanne Beymer answered

Car seat: Use an approved toddler car seat correctly. Sometimes toddlers may not want to be placed in car seats. Gently but consistently put your child into the car seat every time you ride in the car. Give the child a toy to play with once in the seat. Parents wear seat belts. Never leave your child alone in a car.

At age 3.: A check-up at 3 years is recommended. Before starting school your child will need more vaccinations. Bring your child's shot card to all visits.
