Viral URI: Whether or not you actually have influenza will depend upon the testing results. If, however, you are having problems breathing in association with this illness it is best to see a physician and be examined and treated appropriately.

Palpitations: If you are feeling palpitations then need to investigate it through ekg, holter or event monitor to rule out maliganant arrythmias. From your symptoms it appears that you have concomitant respiratory tract infection. When you have cough ity could cause diaphragmatic/phrenic nerve irritation. It could cause hiccouphs. As you are c/o cough and shortness of breath, head congestion seek medical help.
