Old claim: When you're comfortable and you both feel ready, go ahead. A decent guy will wait a few weeks until the new mother feels the time is right. This advice may have been intended primarily for the guy who is over-eager. I think this is old-fashioned advice that doesn't give women credit for their resilience.
