As noted below.: Intercourse causes direct irritation to the urethra ( the short tube that connects your bladder to the outside) and perhaps by mechanically pushing bacteria up into the bladder. If uti's are frequent and directly associated with intercourse, try voiding immediately after intercourse, drinking plenty of fluids and if all else fails by using post intercourse antibiotics for prophylaxis.
