Insomnia: The efficacy of opioids in acute pain such as post surgical pain is well established. However, adding NSAID to the mix is a standard of care. When pain is accompanied by inflammation, nsaids are more effective than opioids in managing pain. Postoperative insomnia could be managed with hypnotic medication. Rec.: consult with your surgeon.

Postoperative psin: 10 days postoperative use of opiates. You need an opiated holiday. You should be prescribed non- opiate analgesics instead. Then your sleep cycle will be notmalised.
