A member asked:

Can u only have burning while urinating for 2days with an uti then you take a bath it doesn't burn anymore? is that a uti or a chemical irritation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

UTI less likely: Typical UTI symptoms: urinary urgency, frequency, voiding small amounts, and burning with urination. Though some utis can clear on their own with pushing fluids, most will require an antibiotic. A UTI would not clear with a bath whereas any vaginal irritation, especially if related to a chemical irritant (lubricant, spermicidal, sprays, etc) would. Vaginitis also associated with burning/discharge.
