A 27-year-old female asked:

I have foul smelling urine and burning sensation when i pee and this came out of nowhere, is it wise to take amoxicillin for it if i believe its a uti? i have about 10 pills left from last week for a tooth infection i had

See doctor: Don't guess at the diagnosis or best treatment. Many or most bacteria causing UTI are resistant to amoxicillin and it won't work. Other conditions can cause the same symptoms, especially genital infectios like STDs (if at risk). And the wrong antibiotic can interfere with proper diagnosis later. See your doctor, or a public health, planned parenthood, or urgent care clinic ASAP. Good luck!
