Not very toxic all: Most toothpaste is not very toxic at all. They generally contain mild detergents and abrasives that when ingested do not cause harm in small amounts. Large amounts can be harmful but not toxic.

Not toxic: They are not toxic. If they were, we would not use them or recommend them. Most mouthwashes have alcohol in them, that's what can cause a problem. Toothpaste has Fluoride in it and we don't want young children to get too much Fluoride in diet so it doesn't affect the enamel of developing adult teeth.
