A member asked:

Please let me know if there is any treatment for inguinal hernia in a child of 2.5 years other than surgical method?

There is not.: Surgery is the best treatment and is a fairly simple outpatient procedure with a high success rate. Putting it off risks complications like incarceration with loss or damage to the testicle. It is best to choose a surgeon who does the procedure on children many times a year like a general pediatric surgeon or pediatric urologist. Many general surgeons or urologists will also qualify.

Hernia: No. Inguinal hernias are not benign. Of course most do not create problems. You should go get it repaired. It is a very easy procedure.
