It is best to choose a surgeon who does the procedure on children many times a year like a general pediatric surgeon or pediatric urologist. Many general surgeons or urologists will also qualify.

Hernia: No. Inguinal hernias are not benign. Of course most do not create problems. You should go get it repaired. It is a very easy procedure.
