What causes blood plaques?

Can't answer: Not sure what is meant by blood plaques. Do you mean blood clots or cholesterol (atherosclerotic) plaques? The general process is damage - either acute or chronic - to the lining of the blood vessel with adherence of platelets, inflammation and subsequent plaque.
