Please help? is the rubber dam obligatory during a root canal?

Yes: The rubber dam is absolutely necessary for 2 reasons. First, to prevent bacteria, saliva and blood from contaminating the tooth being treated and secondly, to protect the patient from sw ol lowing debris or an instrument. If you are cloister phobic you can request the dr. To use a smaller dam or one that is trimmed around the nose to make it more tolerable!

Of course: Endodontics (root canal) should not be performed without a dam. The main advantage is that you are protected from the ingestion or the aspiration of small dental instruments, tooth fragments and irrigating solutions. Patients also increasingly appreciate the use of the rubber dam.
