Chances : Chances are you will not feel anything. You dentist will anesthetize the tooth and surrounding tissues. You may feel a small pinch from the injection, but that should be it. Afterwards, most patients have no postoperative pain. Hope this info helps.

I : I don't think you are going to have to worry about pain at all, i thing that the entire country has been traumatized by the "marathon man" syndrome. The pain associated with having violent toothache leading up to the treatment experience, the lack of sleep and anxiety combined with distortion of physical norms from taking pain killers, and the post operative or ongoing pain if the treatment is not completed will all become blurred into one huge "root canal" nightmare. This is not necessary and rarely an accurate characterization of endodontic therapy. You should actually feel not pain during root canal treatment. Dentistry has come a long way. I should call your doctor immediately and let him know of your anxiety and sllow him to put your mind at rest. Good luck! dr neil mcleod dds dentistry that lasts - quality that counts.

No. : No. The only times root canals are painful is when there is a large infection. If your appointment is not for another week, i doubt that is the case for you. Local anesthesia will do the trick and keep you comfortable and pain free.
