No pain: The dentist will anesthetize the tooth. Then place a dental dam isolating the tooth he is working on. He will then begin instrumenting and cleaning out the canal or canals. Several radiographs (x-rays) may be taken. Then the canal will be filled and either a temporary filling or the final filling will be placed.
