Please help! what is the mechanism of action of lidocaine as a local anesthetic agent for ingrown toenail?

Lidocaine: Lidocaine numbs the skin and surrounding tissue if it can cross the thick skin that makes up the foot. Lidocaine won't treat the inflammation of your ingrown toe nail.
