Yes and No: Stage 4 lung cancer is an incurable type of cancer. Only about half of the patients respond to chemotherapy and that benefit lasts for no more than 6 to 12 months. That is about all one can do in the present state of cancer treatemnt. Once cancer has progressed despite chemotherapy it is good to seek palliative care/hospice care to help her to go through rest of her life with least bit of sufferin.
