Brain aneurysm: Death from a ruptured brain aneurysm can occur at any age and is devastating to the friends and family due to the suddenness and loss of an often healthy person. Furtunately, brain aneurysms are rare in children. They are generally not inherited. However, if two related family members have developed brain aneurysms then the remaining family members should be screened to avoid rupture.

Unlikely: Brain aneurysms are acquired, rare in the pediatric population. Average age of rupture of brain aneurysms in large series of thousands of patients, regardless of gender is 52. Screening is generally recommended when two first degree relatives are affected, probably in 30s or 40s. See brain aneurysm center for women for more information. www.chicagoaneurysm.com.
