Yes.: Frequent bowel movements tend to lessen and constipation becomes the rule. Colitis always needs to be excluded. A brief trial of sulfasalazine is warranted!

Maybe: I have many patients with ibs. They try to manage it with how and what they eat and medication. It is nerve wracking to have cramps and always need to know where the nearest restroom is. I have sent some patients to a psychologist to help them deal with this problem. Anxiety aggravates ibs. As we age many problems seem to multiple adding fuel to the fire.
