Hard to answer?...: They are in different chemical classes and have different kinds of side effects. Tegretol is an anticonvulsant; Latuda (lurasidone) is an atypical antipsychotic (a newer one). My experience with Latuda (lurasidone) is more limited because it is newer, but as a prescriber, if i had to choose one as a mood stabilizer for myself, i would choose latuda (lurasidone). People seem to have fewer side effects and like how they feel with it.
