A member asked:

Is it unusual for the pain to be at a 6-7 one week after a comminuted fracture of femur in an adult male. a rod, screws and wires were used for.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not unusual.: The femur is the longest and strongest bone we have. A comminuted fracture means this bone was broken into three or more pieces and needed to be repaired with rod, screws etc. To hold the pieces together. This is considered a major break, and a lot of force is required to break the bone this way. It takes months to recover; pain 6-7 weeks out would be typical.
