Cols sore: Cold sores are caused by viruses and can last 7-10 days and be very painful. There are some over the counter cold sore meds that are effective. Check with your pharmacist. If they persist, your doctor can prescribe some topical medication or possibly an oral medication that will hasten the resolution of them.

Canker? Cold sore?: Canker sores (aphthous ulcers) occur inside the mouth and the cause is unknown- tends to be associated with stress and irritation. They run their course over 7-14 days. See pharmacist for OTC medication that might help you feel better. Cold sores are from Herpes virus and most often occur on the lips although they can occur intraorallly. Your physician can prescribe Rx if you catch it early.
