I have a brain cyst that is benign. my doctor said the only treatment is a shunt. can the shunt be used to drain the cyst, what to do?

Yes: A cyst is an isolated collection of fluid that may continue to fill and enlarge putting pressure on the normal brain and affecting function. A shunt would drain the cyst limit its growth and allow normal brain function.
