You might need: an ultrasound to determine whether the lump is really a cyst before having a drainage procedure. That said, a cyst aspiration is performed under local anesthesia(or sometimes no anesthesia). It is a simple procedure, maybe you will feel a pinch and minor discomfort from the needle. It will only take a few seconds.
