VP and VA shunts: If someone is found to have hydrocephalus, or increased CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) pressure in the ventricles of the brain. Symptoms can develop such as headache, problems with concentration, difficulty walking and others. Shunts for drainage can be helpful for treatment.. a shunt into the peritoneum of abdomen (VP shunt) is more common. In some cases shunt into atrium of heart (VA) is chosen.
