why do peanuts give me gas? i snacked on quite a few peanuts because i had not eaten dinner or lunch after work. i had been passing gas all day.

Peanuts are not nuts: Peanuts are legumes, like beans. They have a good level of protein and if that is all you ate, the bacteria in your GI tract partially digested the protein and gave off gas. The same would occur if you ate a lot of whey or soy protein.
