A member asked:

Could my mum have an operation if she is on warfarin?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

In general no: In general surgeons do not do elective operations while patients are on warfarin. There are exceptions to this rule, for example if the surgery is an emergency. Having said that, it is often feasible (depending on the underlying condition) to hold the warfarin for a period of time before doing the surgery.
