I am independent and years on 4 mg. of warfarin. md wants my inr around 1.61. went for operation and got 2 clots. should i have been 2.0 all along?

INR Range: The goal INR for patients depends on the why warfarin was started and the risk of clotting vs bleeding. Generally, the goal INR for patients is 2-3, however, if your doctor felt that you were at a higher risk of bleeding, he/she may have recommended a lower INR goal. You should bring the information of the blood clots to your primary care doctor and discuss what your goal INR should be.
