Over thickening of..: Hyper=over/more of, keratosis=thickening of outer skin layer, thus =hypertrophy of the outer layer (stratum corneum) of the skin of the nipple area. Excessive rubbing or suckling from breast feeding etc., eczema etc...Can cause this..Mosturizer use, minimize friction/rub should help over time..If worsen/persistent, consult doc... Good luck.

Hyperkeratosis: Hyperkeratosis is a thickening of the outer layer of the skin. This outer layer contains a tough, protective protein called keratin. This skin thickening is often part of the skin's normal protection against rubbing, pressure and other forms of local irritation. It causes calluses and corns on hands and feet. It can cause whitish areas inside the mouth. This process can also occur on the nipple.
