Lack blood supply: This is an irreducible hernia in which the entrapped intestine has its blood supply cut off.Pain is always present, this condition may be congenital (present at birth) or may be caused by the degeneration of muscle within the abdomen. Surgery is typically performed to resolve symptoms.

Gangrene : This is when the abdominal contents that are protruding through the hole in the abdominal wall (hernia) twist, or are otherwise constricted enough to compress and cut off the blood supply. The contents then become ischemic (gangrene) to varying degrees. If caught early, this may be reversible. If not, thatvportion of the contents are removed. Hope that helps!
