Pancreatitis lipids: When the triglycerides get very high, it can cause pancreatitis. Poorly controlled diabetes raises triglycerides, as does a high fat diet. You need to work with your doctor to maintain a normal weight, control your blood glu with whatever it takes, keep triglycerides low with a low fat diet and medications.

Must be very high: For pancreatits to occur, I'll assume your level is above 600. This needs to be lowered aggressively, as acute pancreatitis can be a very serious issue. Consult your doctor for medications to lower your triglycerides. Diet and exercise will help, but might not be enough.
