Early arthritis : Sounds like you sustained a high- energy pelvic and associated acetabular fracture.Apparrently u had orif of acetabulum but did not require pelvic stabilization.If u are having groin pain now 6 yrs. Post-op the most likely cause is arthritis, despite 'negative' x-rays.Sounds like your surgeon did an excellent job on a very demanding fracture(s)...( internal rotation of hip is usually painful 1st).

Focal cartilage: This is a joint injury and although the xrays may show the joint space is maintained well and no joint spurs, you can still have focal areas of cartilage damage that can cause pain.
