Constipation: A tsp of pear, prune or karo syrup in 4-8 ounces of formula or breast milk will help.

CONSTIPATION IN: Infant: if problem since birth, e.g. Delayed passage of meconeum followed by ongoing constipation needs to rule out "hirschsprung disease". Breast fed babies can have a bowel movement every 5-7 or more days; as long as stool is firm, not to worry. Sometimes in formula fed babies, change of formula to a whey protein containing formula helps. Check with your child's pediatrician to find out the caus.
