TOE NAIL: This is not common. Usually when toe nail is removed pain only lasts a few days. I would go back and see the podiatrist again.

Pain: This isn't normal. Sometimes some dead tissue is healed over by the body and needs to be removed , or a piece of nail remains. See your podiatrist for assistance.

Take care of it.: On occasion a small piece of nail may be left behind that can be source of you pain and discomfort. Have it evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.

Could be regrowing: If the doc didn't permanently remove it and did a simple excision, it may have regrown into the spot that it happened the first time.

If wound healed then: 3 months is typically long enough for your ingrown toenail to heal. It's possible that there may still be a small piece in there. Other things to consider is infection, burning from chemical( if that was used) most likely debris or a piece of the nail still embedded.

Not normal : you should have it checked because it should feel pain free now that it is fixed. Perhaps it still had a piece of nail growing in that was missed it is growing back.

Nerve: The pain after ingrown nail removal could be related to nerve irritation. If the nail was removed permanently via chemical ablation, there may be part of the nail growing back
