Coping with Anxiety: I would have to believe education about anxiety could always help people. However, I would not suggest becoming a counselor is a good way to address one's own anxiety issues. It is important to understand that to help others one must not let their own issues get in the way. If you are entering the counseling field, I would recommend being in counseling to work through your own difficulties.

Sure: Anxiety over what? You didn't say which type of counselor, but assuming it is at least a masters level mental health counselor: learning the therapeutic skills and applying them to your own life/practicing them can definitely help. It's always best to be in treatment with someone else, however, as the healer isn't always the best at healing thyself.
