How to treat anxiety? which kind of doctor to see? psychologist? what type of counselor?

Many choices: 1) make sure your thyroid hormone levels are not too high. Check with your internist or endocrinologist. If they are too high [you're on levothyroxine], that can cause anxiety. 2) to obtain a mental health evaluation, start with either a good psychiatrist, psychologist or social worker and he/she can assess the causes of psychologically based anxiety and recommend treatment. Hope this helps.

Either: Either doctor or both. A psychologist will work with you behaviorally to combat the anxiety and a psychiatrist will possibly offer medications to ease the somatic symptoms. Both are great options, depending on your specific scenario.
