Not for sprinting: It would certainly increase your endurance. But i would not recommend sprinting on a treadmill. It's too easy to misstep and fall hard. In cold weather, sprinting in a gymnasium would be preferable. A coach or fitness trainer may be able to show you some mechanical aspects of sprinting that could help you with speed.
