Individual variety: I have seen different effects in different people -- meaning that it is not uniform. Some respond better to one than the other, and some do not respond to either and need an entirely different medicine. Ambien (zolpidem) cr was made in hopes of helping people stay asleep through the night; Ambien (zolpidem) immediate release was for initial insomnia. Unfortunately the effects do not always follow through as planned.
