Does it hurt to take ambien on a regular basis?

You bet it does. Over time Ambien produces tolerance and higher doses are required to induce sleep. Eventually, works poorly at best, and you do not sleep in addition. Why not have your doctor engage you into a "sleep hygiene" program?

Used on a regular basis, Ambien becomes less and less effective and tolerance develops. If insomnia remains a problem, avoid TVs and other screens in the evenings, consider a trial of melatonin, and talk with your doctor about other ways to treat your insomnia.
