See below: Most ssri's work well for ocd. Clomipramine is considered the gold standard, and is a tricyclic type antidepressant that effects several neurotransmitters. Your psychiatrist will work with you to determine the best medicine for you, along with the best dose. And yes, if you watch what you eat and exercise, you have an excellent chance to maintain your weight. My patients rarely gain weight.

NonSSRI Abilify (aripiprazole) best: In my experience, low-dose Abilify (aripiprazole) (2-5 mg each am) has been far more effective for ocd than luvox, anafranil, a combination of the two, or any of the other ssri meds. It is usually at least weight neutral unlike most ssris.
